What Is Sleep Apnea? What Is Snoring?

What is Sleep Apnea? What is Snoring?

If you are wondering what is sleep apnea, you have landing in the right place. A lot of people confuse snoring and sleep apnea majority of the time. Below I will list all the factors that make these two words very different from each other.

What is Snoring? - Snoring is the sound cause when apnea occurs (I will get to apnea in a few). Snoring is the loud annoying sound that is made when an individual is asleep. This happens because a their is a halt in air flow in the throat, making it very hard to breathe. Snoring in simpler words is a loud fight for air that is happening in your sleep.

What is Apnea - Apnea is when your pharynx (Base of nasal cavity) collapses in the back of your throat stop all air flow. This means you can get any oxygen in and no carbon dioxide out, which causes a bad condition called "Respiratory Acidosis". If you are wondering what that is I will tell you in a few words. To much carbon dioxide builds up in the body which leads to brain damage and your lungs collapsing.

Now that you know what the difference is between these two actions, I will now tell you the horrible effects that can and will cause.

Long Term Effects of Sleep Apnea

  • Strokes
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiac Arrhythmia (Heart Disease)
  • Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack)

Short Term Effects of Sleep Apnea

  • Decrease quality of life
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Restless Sleep
  • Poor judgement and concentration
  • Morning headaches
  • Irritability

Those are just a few of many effects that sleep apnea will lead to in no time having it.

Below I will be listing the effects of snoring, once again, I will only be labeling a few due to the mass numbers of conditions snoring can lead to.

Effects of Snoring

  • Sleep apnea
  • Trouble in relationships
  • Loud and annoying sounds while asleep
  • Restless nights (for you and your partner)
  • Restless sleeps at night
  • not enough oxygen distributed throughout the body correctly

As you can see from the 2 lists above, snoring and sleep apnea is nothing to play with. I would strongly advise you to get these problems solved asap!

If those conditions and effects were not enough for you out there to get this problem fixed, I shall list a few deadly reasons why would want to cure this problem.

Sleep Apnea and Snoring can Lead to Brain Damage - Yes, that is exactly what I said. How can this happen you ask? When the throat is closed for a short amount of time, oxygen can not make it up to the brain which is the main element that keeps it alive. Brain damage can be caused within 3 minutes when apnea is occurring (throat is closed) and death will lead right behind within minutes. I really hope you see now that you can not wait around with a bad snoring condition now. I strongly recommend you all to learn how to stop snoring so something bad like this will never occur in your life.

It's that time again where I will leave it up to you all to actually go seek help or not, but until next time I will see you later. I hope this post was a sleep better solution to your sleep apnea and snoring problems.
